Lifespan Integration (LI) leverages the body-mind’s natural healing abilities through various protocols designed to address birth trauma, pre-verbal trauma, and developmental attachment deficits. Central to LI is the repetition of a Time Line of memories and images, which helps integrate past experiences and demonstrates the passage of time to the client’s body-mind system more profoundly than traditional cognitive behavioral therapy.

When a present issue is rooted in past experiences, the LI standard protocol guides clients to revisit and resolve these memories imaginally. The therapist then leads the client through a visual Time Line to the present. This process involves clients creating and viewing ‘movies’ of their lives, which are spontaneously generated by their unconscious minds. Each ‘movie’ reveals different themes and insights, helping clients understand how past experiences influence their current behavior and choices. Over time, even those with memory gaps can piece together a coherent life story.

LI is a gentle, deep-acting method that changes neural responses and outdated defense mechanisms without re-traumatizing clients. By connecting unpleasant feelings and dysfunctional patterns to their origins, LI therapy ‘re-sets’ the neural system to align better with the present. This rapid re-setting allows clients to respond more appropriately to current stressors, leading to improved self-acceptance, better relationships, and an overall better outlook on life after several sessions.
